My first and most important suggestion is to create something that everyone will enjoy. Not something that you want to get into but something that everyone can enjoy. For me, I have a very strong preference for building products that a child can take on a game night and get excited by. Games that are interactive and that are made to teach and learn. I love the idea of a game where you only play for 10 minutes and your entire family can play along and be excited about it! What do I mean by that? Just look at anything that you can play on a Saturday or a Sunday. In other words, make sure it’s interactive and fun. Don’t limit yourself to just “board games”. I love strategy games as well, and I also love my wife’s board games… but they are a different type of game. For me, I have been getting the sense by playing with her board games. She is an avid card and tile game player, and she plays with the little boy she has now so it has given me an appreciation for the role playing elements as well. Also just look at your family. What do you want them to play? If they all have different interests, then make sure the game is designed to have a lot of variety to it. It doesn’t have to be an exact replication of what you play, but it should provide a lot of different options for the family/friends to enjoy. And I suggest that people enjoy a variety of games. Do not be afraid to play different variations, just like people enjoy variety in food or clothing.
As I mentioned in the first question above, don’t be afraid to explore different concepts and do unique things. It’s not a limit to how far you can go and do something and it’s important to realize that the more you explore with something, the more you learn. I’m not saying that you have to give up your game that you are playing now or move to something different just because you are not happy with it. I’m also not saying that the game is dead and doesn’t have anything new to offer. It’s just that it is a different concept. I just want people to be aware of this and to look for opportunities when they get to that other side of the game that they may not be aware of at the time.
Finally, make sure you have a game that you enjoy and are proud of and that’s where the idea of having a game shelf comes in. That way you don’t have to look at things you
