Three UK people travelling with two Polish aircrew have died in separate crashes in the Alps.
The Polish air chief was killed after he lost control of his aircraft shortly after taking off from the small village of Pienza near Tuscany.
A third person was critically injured, said Italian authorities.
Italian President Sergio Mattarella ordered an investigation into what happened.
He said: “We must work together with Poland to find what can be done to avoid this kind of accident happening again.”
He said the Polish minister for transport, Mariusz Blaszczak, would travel to Italy after the first crash to personally attend to the victims.

The crash took place in the Pianza area, 40 kilometres (25 miles) south of the Italian border, with a four-seater plane coming from the nearby village of Mura.
The two Italian pilots were said by the Polish aviation ministry to have been on their way home to Pienza for a trip to the village of Sibiu.
“There are people who have lost loved ones, but I have to think about the other victims,” the Polish president said.
“I want to express my deepest condolences. There may come a time when we will have to discuss again whether this will ever happen again.”

The third crash occured at about 14:00 local time (11:00 GMT). It occurred near the border with the French-Italian part of the Alps known as the Tèche Moras region.
The first to fall out of the sky, the plane apparently plunged about 50m (165ft) on to the ground.
About 50 people were injured in the crash which saw the ground collapse around it.
The second plane involved was seen plummeting towards the ground – and some people on the ground believed it had crashed into a lake near the village of Riva Vecchia.
