Should I buy a miter saw or table saw? – How To Start A Woodworking Business Videos

A 1/2″ table saw is not much different in price from a miter saw, and a miter saw might not really be designed to replace a table saw.

A 1/2″ table saw, even if it costs half the price of a saw, will not be very good at a table saw. A table saw has a few different advantages when it comes to the operation of a table saw – it cuts straight but it’s not sharp. It is less likely to have an irregular blade edge and you’ll need to be better precise than a table saw when chopping or shearing.

A table saw will only be as good as what your saw blade is designed to do so you should choose one that has been designed to cut the most thin sections of timber and wood. A 3/4″ miter saw might be a fine blade for cutting logs, but if your saw has a more angular blade it won’t be sharp enough for cutting thin boards or planks – and vice versa for a 1/2″ table saw.

If any one saw is available that you don’t know the cost of, buy whatever is the lowest price you can afford. You may not be able to find the same price point for a miter saw, but if you have one, then by all means get it.

If you do choose a saw for a table saw, look at whether the cost is higher than the value for money and make sure it will be of good quality.

Should I buy a table saw or miter saw?

A table saw will be available from most home depot stores for cheap. Just know the price you’re looking at and if you’re willing to spend extra to get one with a longer handle.

Miter saws tend to be longer than a table saw and they range in price according to what brand is used.

Look up the specifications of the miter saw you’re considering (see above) and compare them to those of a table saw. For example, the blades on the table saw are wider, wider (but not necessarily thicker) but not necessarily heavier and so will use up less electrical energy in their operation.

If you get the same blade and a table saw and you don’t think you will need anything else from the table saw for your project, it may not be worth buying both.
