There are many choices available to you when you are thinking about starting a business and building your own woodworking shop. Here’s what to keep in mind.
The United States will be “somewhere between a superpower and a pariah” by year’s end if it does not have a working defense, an influential American think tank stated in a new assessment that warns of the country’s waning power and of the risk of an attack on Washington.
The Project on US Global Power released a major new report on Wednesday arguing that the United States is a “leader in military spending” but also that, if it fails to develop a viable counter to Iranian aggression, it will “fall out of the top rankings” by the end of the year.
“At this point, in the event of any credible threat to US security, we would be somewhere between a superpower and a pariah (a term we choose rather intentionally),” the report states. “The United States remains in the top spot (and one of the strongest) in overall military spending only by virtue of the US’s military dominance in foreign affairs and the global political environment, not its economy.”
Instead, the think tank argues that the biggest threat facing the United States come from its “lack of economic dynamism.”
In an interview with CNN on Thursday, John Yoo, the senior lawyer known for “torture memos” that led to the release of the so-called “torture memos,” claimed that the Pentagon cannot adequately address the growing threats posed by a resurgent Russia or China.
“We are very concerned because our military is not well equipped, our military is getting older and our generals are getting older and our military is getting more and more expensive to maintain that we can’t keep up with those threats,” Yoo told CNN.
In its “World Power: 2016” report compiled with the think tank, the State Department’s Office of the Coordinator for Security Cooperation in Europe (CSSCE) warns that an attack on the United States would not be “as devastating as it will be in the event of a nuclear war.”
But the report is likely to stir more tensions between Russia and the West as Western powers increasingly become concerned about Moscow’s assertive foreign policy.
“The most damaging consequence would be an attack on the United States,” the report states.
“The United States would no doubt be subject to a severe military response of the scale that we have not seen since the end
