It’s super easy. Just go to a local shop that deals with wood products, and ask for a quote for a specific type of work. You can start by asking for an estimate to get an idea of what sort of work you can do with the material you’re considering.
For example, my project this month consists of a 3d printed wood table top with a 2 layer base and 6 layers of wood veneer. The estimate I used for the table was $50.
How do I plan my work?
First things first: you’re not going to be able to do your own work. Once you know what you want, then it’s just a matter of choosing the right model, which you can find through the many online tools out there.
The first step is just reading up on what it is you want to accomplish with the model you chose. A good starting point is to think of the object you want to build and how it will function in the future.
After you’ve decided on the model you’re looking for and you’ve selected the piece of wood that you want to model that one, you’ll have to do a little searching. It can be a pain to find exact measurements, so be careful. You’ll also want to look up the material in what was the best selling material of the year prior.
The materials you’ve selected are pretty self explanatory, as long as they are a type of wood you’re curious about.
To keep it simple for you and also make things easier, I’ll do the same and only list two of the four materials that you’ll probably be buying:
Veneer and Panel
There is more to discuss, but at this point you should already have an idea as to what you want to do and what you’ll be doing with your pieces of wood.
Once you get the general concept down in your head, figure out the wood that fits your needs the most accurately.
This can be as complex as a tree.
A tree is pretty much the same thing: you choose the trunk, you start with the branches and then choose the wood in between the branches.
It’s not super complicated and is easy enough to follow once you think about it a bit, but it’s a good learning experience. The good news is that once you’ve figured out the exact size and shape you want, once you can visualize
