We know: It’s hard. It’s the kind of thing people don’t typically think about. But we figured a table saw would work just fine as a way for a team to get around and to build out buildings.

What’s the toughest part about being a professional in construction?

The hardest part is really, really simple. It’s really just making things fit well, being able to see and work. As soon as you get past that, it’s really easy.

The City of Toronto has taken on a new challenge: to make our streets safer—and also safer from potential terrorist attacks.

A series of security-related events will take place on June 24 in the downtown core, specifically to remind Torontonians that they are not a target of terrorism.

Starting at noon on June 24, four events will take place at various locations throughout the day at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and at City Hall, where visitors can take a moment to enjoy a safe walk with the new security-concerned mayor.

The evening of Saturday, June 24 will see the Toronto Police Service announce their top priority for the coming year—a series of annual security-related events that will be held in tandem with the Pan Am Games and Pan Am Parade.

“If you don’t know who I am, I’m the former Toronto police chief, who will be holding a press conference on June 25. The goal is to let the public know we are doing everything we can to protect them during the June 24 events,” said Bill Blair, acting director of public security. “We are making it easy [for people to come] during the day. You can get a ticket to any event on their website.”

Blair said that the events will take place at 10 locations around the downtown core, though he didn’t provide a specific location.

“It would be great if we were running every day, but we don’t have a schedule for that day because of the Olympics and the parade. But we’re planning to make up some other dates because you never know,” he told reporters. “There’s another Pan Am parade on the 26th of July and we have some other events in August to give our residents one more piece of good news.”

Included in the events, which include presentations from the Toronto Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police, the OPP Community Policing Team and Toronto Emergency Management and Emergency Management.
