And that’s not from any money you can gain by investing in the stock market. As you get higher on the trading ladder, you’ll have more money to make so that percentage climbs.

However, if you want to be successful in day trading, it’s good to know there’s not a magic money tree that leads from the bottom to the top. You need to be consistent and to learn the game.

That’s not to say there’s nothing to do, and there’s plenty to learn by playing!

What does day trading mean?

Day trading is a very specific way of trading. It typically involves trying to beat the market by using different strategies and moving around funds. At the end of a day, you’ll report your gains/losses and the market direction.


While it’s not a complicated concept, it’s not an easy thing to apply. It’s pretty basic and can be understood by anyone. It’s possible to learn the basics, it’s not hard. But it’s not easy. Don’t get me wrong, day trading is pretty fun and rewarding.

What’s the difference between day-trading and stock trading?

There really isn’t a “day-trading” vs “stock-trading” divide. It’s more of a “stock-trading” vs “day-trading” divide.

It’s important to understand the difference between the two, so you can use it when you think things like “why I should trade stock” or “why I should trade a stock”.

I’ll try to explain it to you in a more formal manner in a future blog post, but essentially day trading (and buying stocks) involves manipulating the stock market as much as possible. On the other hand, stock-trading involves buying stock in an interest-bearing account (not a mutual fund, that’s a different subject) and then holding it over time without actually owning or using it, but in order to drive up its prices in time-frames that you are comfortable with and in order to move and position it to benefit from an eventual short position being taken.
