An elderly woman was hit and killed by a car in west suburban Forest Glen Friday afternoon, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
According to the medical examiner’s office, the 80-year-old woman was in a crosswalk in Forest Glen just after noon when a 2005 Acura TSX collided into her, striking the curb and her head and killing her. She was taken to Holy Cross Hospital where she died a short time later.
The medical examiner’s office said she lived at the home’s end and was pronounced dead there Sunday morning. The woman was identified by the medical examiner’s office as Doris Tull, a Forest Glen resident and daughter of the house’s owner. The family did not want to be interviewed, though the woman’s name has been included in family news releases in recent years.
No charges had been filed on Thursday.
The Cook County state’s attorney’s office is investigating the collision, although investigators would not comment.
DUBAI (Reuters) – Iran has agreed to the release of 10 jailed Americans, the U.S. State Department said in a statement on Friday, a day after Iran said the American hostages were still being held.
A spokesman for the U.S. State Department, John Kirby, told a news conference on Wednesday that the State Department was still waiting for an Iranian request to make an initial return of the Americans.
“They agreed to the release of their Americans on Thursday,” Kirby said. “We are waiting for the Iranians.’
“The U.S. is very concerned that Iran continues to detain American citizens and has taken several innocent Americans hostage,” he added.
