A schoolboy has been jailed after being filmed beating a pet dog to death because it bit a boy.

Tristan Osterman was filmed by his dad, Shaun, in the bathroom of the family home in Birmingham in January.

The 12-year-old admitted murder and was given a 12-month sentence yesterday.

Shaun Osterman, 36, was recorded on footage in which he told his son to bring the dog inside and ‘beat it up a little bit’.

Shaun Osterman told the court it was “absolutely appalling” what his son had done.

A school worker at the house told police: “It was terrible what he’d done. I’ve dealt with a lot worse.”

The worker went on to say there had been “bitter arguments” between the boy and the dead dog.

But Shaun Osterman, who had been playing video games on his laptop at the time, did not even call police when he reported what had happened.

Shane Lewis, prosecuting, said it was a “sickening case”
