You’re probably one of those people that likes to listen too much to music. It’s so tempting to listen to the entire album. I find that the most beautiful instrument is the human voice. I like to hear how a woman tells her story, and I would actually go to a church service with my wife and listen to the speaker over the microphone.
How does the world react to someone like you who openly shares your sexuality? Do you ever face negativity or discrimination?
I have received death threats, and I do struggle with how to handle this. I did a movie the other day with a gay actor and I do think it gave him a platform for the kind of discussion he felt passionate about. My dad is like a master or something and he told me, ‘You can get killed for being you. What’s the point?’
What does it mean to be a man of God?
I’m not sure that you can really define it. It really depends on how you define the word. It says more in Romans 1:18 that you are made in the image of God. God wants you to know who you are and love who you are. God wants you to look like those in the Old Testament, the Israelites, because, as I stated earlier, you were born of women and we have a vision of you in the Bible that is more than an image. You are a God-fearing human being.
