The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released their latest ICC World Cup ratings list with New Zealand finishing at the top for a 14th year in a row.

However, that success did not come without criticism, with South Africa ranking at the bottom of the list having lost their last two matches.

Cricket’s ratings system has been changed since the 2007 World Cup to take into account the “complex social context of the sport across the globe”.

New Zealand has gone from the top table to the bottom spot in just 10 years, and have won just two Test matches in that time.

It is the second-best record in the world with England’s second-worst score behind them.

Cricket’s latest ratings system is based on the following categories:

New Zealand and Australia remain the top two teams for the tournament, while Pakistan have jumped ahead of Bangladesh, Bangladesh have climbed into third place, Sri Lanka are in fourth and Bangladesh have risen into fifth spot, making it the last team in the tournament to achieve a winning record in all four formats.

The results were revealed at a media briefing attended by all nine ICC committees after a final ranking, including the ICC chairman, Shashank Manohar
