Who is eligible?
The National Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) entity in the United States and has been so since 1970. The grants it makes are made for various purposes, the most important ones being for medical research purposes. There are many categories of grants to which the National Foundation may provide funding.
Medical research grants may be awarded for the exploration of new medical products and technologies, for research in education, or in health care.
Medical, educational, employment, and public health grants are made for the advancement of the field of medicine.
Some research projects are awarded for the study of health risks.
Some researchers do research in exchange for grants from the government to investigate problems, such as epidemics, public safety problems, and environmental issues.
Other grants include grants for research into health care needs or to study illnesses or disorders.
National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants may be awarded to investigate diseases, injuries, environmental hazards, and other areas in the fields of medicine, nursing, social services, or the general health.
How much do grants cost?
The cost of an NIH-grant for a research project consists of one or more of the following:
Payment and administrative expenses, such as a researcher’s time for reviewing applications and preparing reports.
Travel expenses and accommodations, including for administrative staff to travel to and from NIH for meetings of the National Academies, the National Institutes of Health or a similar organization.
Expenses associated with preparing the grants.
The National Foundation makes awards of grants for medical, educational, employment, and public health research.
Who is eligible, who can receive them, and how to apply?
To be eligible for a scientific grant, you must be:
a PhD in an accredited research field; or
a doctorate or Ph.D. in biological, chemical, or medical sciences with a specific interest in or skill in a medical, educational, employment, public health or environmental research field or in the study of health risks; or
a member of an organized group or organization of researchers with a specific interest in a medical, educational, employment, or public health research field or in the study of health risks and/or a particular area of health risk studies, including, but not limited to, medical, educational, employment, or public health epidemiology; or
a member of an organized group with a specific interest in a specific disease or
