To submit a grant proposal, complete the online application using your university’s web page or email submission to sgmlc@ul.edu.

It will take about seven to 10 business days for your application to be evaluated and approved by the department. Once approved, your research proposal will be posted online on the UW’s online website (www.science.washington.edu) and a faculty committee will contact you within 24 to 48 hours to discuss your proposal and provide you with additional information.

Once your proposal is posted, your proposal will remain under review until your work is funded. The funding deadline is generally November 15. To check that your work is in line with our research priorities, please visit the UW’s online Grant Services page to see if your paper qualifies:

PORTLAND, Maine — A man accused of throwing a bucket of water on a woman in Portland Tuesday was arrested at his home Wednesday after authorities raided it, police said.

Troy R. Bennett, 38, was charged with second-degree riot, a Class B felony, according to Detective Sgt. David Shipp of the Portland Police Bureau. He was released from custody and is due back in court March 22.

Bennett was charged at the time with second-degree disorderly conduct and second-degree interfering with police officers. According to police, Bennett was arrested on Tuesday night.

Detectives served a search warrant at Bennett’s home around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant issued the previous day, according to a police report.

An officer went to the front door and found a bucket full of water sitting on a coffee table in the kitchen. The bucket had been thrown through the air by an individual who stood behind the officer and yelled at the arresting officer, the report said.

The officer then directed the man to the front door. Bennett then walked into the house with the bucket and threw it into the air, the report said.
