Sure, you’re allowed to do it. The answer is that you should have a gas central heating system installed as a primary heat source in your home.
Gas central heating allows you to use all the energy your home is storing in the form of heat without going through energy companies and wasting it, which is good for the environment.
In terms of financing, you cannot get any sort of grant to install a gas central heater. However, the same goes for any other energy conversion system you wish to install within your home that utilizes energy from another source.
How long can my gas central heater last
If you use gas central heating you can expect your heater to last at least 10 years. In terms of reliability that doesn’t sound like much of a good thing, but in reality it will make it very convenient if you need to do a lot of things all at the same time and you simply cannot get enough heat at one time. Most households do run three or four furnaces at the same time.
I installed a gas central heater and don’t know how long it will last.
A lot of homeowners think there are some guarantees when it comes to gas central heating in the UK. In particular, that your heater will last for about a decade or two if you have a good supply and your furnace burns the correct amount of coal. This is only true in large towns and other cities and not in towns with a lot more buildings, as it tends to be very inefficient to boil large amounts of water and coal in these locations.
For homeowners with a furnace that is not very good, such as mine, any additional heating or cooling equipment such as electric wood heaters or even the gas central heating may last more on the order of 10-20 years. For this reason, you will be able to keep up with most of your heating needs by installing a good furnace in the first place.
